Interdisciplinary Research Network: Gender · Power · State

Medialisations, Normative Frameworks, and Social Practices of Gendered Attribution

This research network examines the interplay between gender, power, and the state as it manifests in the formal and informal dynamics of political domination. It traces interactions between media representations, social practices, and normative frameworks in the attribution and negotiation of gendered (state) power, from the Early Modern period to the present.

The network brings together scholars from literary and cultural studies, media studies, history, political science, art history, and psychology. It is led by the Center for Gender Studies and Feminist Futurology at Marburg University, in collaboration with the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe (Leibniz Association), Justus Liebig University Giessen, and the University of Münster.
