Research Information System (FIS)

The Philipps Universität Marburg is introducing a Research Information System (FIS) as part of the HeFIS network. It aims to "merge all information on research activities at the university and make it available in a structured form based on interest groups". The University Computer Center provides the infrastructure for operating the system and also plays a major role in transferring data from various source systems into the new FIS.

Your benefit

By standardizing the collection of research information at the university, FIS enables a structured and valid overview of projects, publications, researchers at the university and more. Its structure ensures that the information on the respective research content is continuously linked and updated. It simplifies the reporting system of researchers and enables them to integrate data on other websites. FIS also contributes to increasing the transparency of work processes for university administration employees and enables them to fulfil research-related reporting obligations.

Target group

Researchers, employees

Department 19 (Geography) was the first to be granted exclusive access to the system and is currently evaluating it from the perspective of an entire department. The University Library supports this process by accompanying and optimizing the validation process when entering publication data. The next step will be to implement and test the display of third party funding.

The University Computer Center supports system users with implementing individual configuration requests and integrating FIS into the other IT services of the Philipps University of Marburg. In addition to the productive system, the University Computer Center also provides a test, training and integration instance.
