Web conference with Zoom-X

From the summer semester 2023, Zoom-X (according to the "Hessian model") will be offered. The use of Cisco Webex is no longer possible.

Zoom-X is used within the context of an evaluation operation. This means that functions within Zoom-X may have to be adapted dynamically.

In addition to the two video and web conferencing services BigBlueButton and DFNConf, teachers are allowed to use the web conferencing service Zoom-X on a limited semester basis. This allows web conferencing exclusively for courses with over 300 (up to 1,000) online participants. Zoom-X may not be used in research or administration! The use of the licences is recorded via the metadata generated during the web conferences (including the number of participants). Licences that are not used as intended can be withdrawn at short notice if necessary.

  • Zoom app
  • Access exclusively for large courses (> 300 participants)

Requirements (for participants)

Participation in a Zoom-X web conference is possible from a mobile device or PC with webcam and headset (or loudspeaker and microphone) using the Zoom app only. For pure participation in conferences (e.g. by students), no licence or login is required.

    Please note that Zoom-X is a cloud-based service. Philipps-Universität can therefore practically not influence the availabilities and the functions of Zoom-X. The HRZ can only offer you limited support here. The official support pages of Zoom can be found at: https://support.zoom.us/
