Please make sure that your personal login data (username and password of the university account) are not stored on the servers of your service provider. Otherwise there are serious security risks! To do so, follow the instructions in the manual.
Remove the existing settings for eduroam and UMRnet_staff
If your MacBook is already logged into eduroam or umrnet_staff so far, the old credentials have to be removed first before installing the current profiles. To do this, proceed:
- Check in advance whether another network connection is available to you in addition to eduroam or UMRnet_staff, e.g. via LAN or via WIFI UMRnet_guest.
If this is not the case, you need to pre-download the network profile now and store it for later use: Start Safari and download the appropriate profile from https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=5092, but do NOT install it yet! - Click Preferences (gear icon in the Dashboard).
- Go to Settings → Network.
- Check whether an existing connection to eduroam, UMRnet_staff or UMRnet_students is displayed in the box on the left under WIFI (green dot); the name is displayed as the network name on the right.

5. If so, please click on the minus sign below the box to remove the entry. If necessary, repeat the step until all manually entered WIFI connections to the networks mentioned above have been removed.
6. Click Apply.
7. Click Settings again (gear icon in the dashboard).
8. Check if the Profiles item is present.
9. If so, click Profiles and, if necessary, remove the any network profile for eduroam or UMRnet_Staff.

Once your MacBook no longer connects to eduroam or umrnet_staff, you can proceed with the re-setup described in the following section.
New installation of WiFi on macOS
To automatically configure your Apple device for LAN and WIFI access, please use the profiles provided on https://cat.eduroam.org (CAT = Configuration Assistant Tool).
- Please restart your device.
- Establish an Internet connection by other means (e.g. mobile data).
- Start Safari and visit https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=5092. This should already set Philipps-Universität Marburg as your home institution.
- Then select the correct user group (Students or Staff). If you get a message that the WiFi Payload could not be installed, please use macOS only Students or macOS only Staff instead.
- After downloading the profile file, the import of the profile will start automatically.
- Double-click on the profile (.mobileconfig) in the Download folder. This will trigger the import of the profile. Open "System Preferences" again and go to "Profiles".
- There please click on "Install". When prompted, enter username (long version) and password, possibly more than once ("Enterprise network eduroam" or "Wired Enterprise network").

To apply the new settings, you need to authenticate with your local user account on the device.
