Archives, Libraries, Documentation, Memorials, Museums

Graduates of all humanities have a particular advantage in archives and libraries, while those with a background in history are particularly well-suited to memorials and museums. The knowledge, education, and working methods of historians are ideal prerequisites for successfully completing internships in archives and libraries (“archivist,” “librarian”) or traineeships in museums and memorials (“museum specialist,” “museum educator”). Even beyond specialized historical topics, professionals trained in history are trusted to summarize and comment on all content, tag it with keywords, and store it in a retrievable manner. Specialized training courses or continuing education master’s programs pave the way to the still relatively new world of “scientific documentation.”
