Career Paths in Consulting/Advising
Academic, educational and ethical consulting, business consultancy, coaching, supervision, self-help groups
As in many other humanities and social sciences, the step from ‘education’ to ‘consulting’ is a short one in philosophy. The body of knowledge, as well as the methods for applying this knowledge, can be imparted both in group settings and on an individual basis.
What people with a background in philosophy bring to the field of consulting is a particular focus on the question of what, how, on what basis and with what objectives consulting should be provided – including in the context of consulting on corporate philosophy. This means that this meta-perspective often leads to planning or leadership roles within the ‘consulting industry’.
