Management

Project Management, Corporate Governance and Management, Human Resources Development

Management is the art of identifying and delegating tasks, initiating and supervising their implementation, and evaluating and distributing the results. Project management is a modern method of dividing management tasks into clearly defined sub-tasks and assigning them a defined start and end (goals). While management continues to be the domain of economics, the project itself is the home of people from all social sciences, especially political science: defining new goals, constructing new frameworks for action, evaluating the achievement of goals, and critically questioning the results. Implementing your own projects (involvement), gaining experience in structured environments (internships), and learning the tools of the trade (further training) is a proven method for a successful entry into management. Modern human resource management is largely based on motivation, identification, and goal orientation, all areas in which project-oriented political scientists can shine with their contributions.

  • Possible Tasks

-As part of the project management team, you define the key information for the project (e.g. budget, staff, duration, deadlines, etc.).
-You develop the individual project phases and steps and define the relevant goals, tasks, and responsibilities.
-You establish project teams or assign an existing team to the project. You facilitate communication between team members and/or between different teams. In addition to structuring internal team communication (e.g. through team meetings, one-on-one meetings, introducing new communication platforms, team-building efforts, etc.), you also act as a contact person for your team members and strive to motivate the entire team
-You check that tasks are completed on time and that quality standards and budgets are met.
-In addition to internal communication, your tasks also include representing your project team and the project itself: you inform clients or superiors about the status of the project(s) and represent the project to other stakeholders. You prepare the relevant data for the respective target group and are responsible for the presentation.
-You are responsible for documenting and reporting on the project phases, budget compliance, and project results.
