The objective of the Wirtschaftsmathematik / Business Mathematics master's program is to enrich and to expand the specialized competencies acquired in the Wirtschaftsmathematik / Business Mathematics bachelor's program. In addition to continuing courses in Mathematics, Business Mathematics and Computer Science, you are introduced to independent scientific work in the master's program. You will study current research literature and will process a problem from Business Mathematics in the master's thesis.

The professional field for business mathematicians is broadly diversified and resembles that of economic scientists.
A successfully completed master's program enables you
- to perform independent mathematical work in industry and business,
- to manage projects which relate to the analysis, modeling and solving of scientific, economic or technical problems,
- to perform design, development and research responsibilities in scientific and public institutions
- to work as a scientific assistant or scientific employee at a university,
- access to a doctorate.
The professional prospects for business mathematicians are generally very good! Successful graduates of the program can be found in the insurance and credit industry, corporate consulting, information technology or at universities and research institutions, among others.
Required university degree Certification of a degree from a specific "Business Mathematics" bachelor's program or certification of a degree from a subject-relevant bachelor's program in the field of “Mathematics” or certification of a comparable domestic or foreign qualifying university degree.
In addition to the bachelor in the Business Mathematics or Mathematics program, a teaching degree for secondary schools (1st state examination or master's) with the subject of Mathematics also qualifies for admission. A bachelor's in another discipline qualifies for admission if at least 90 credit points have been completed in modules in which competencies at the level of the basic and required modules of the Marburg Bachelor's program in Business Mathematics have been acquired.
The qualifying university degree must be obtained with an overall assessment of 7.9 grade points according to § 28 of the General Terms or better.
The examination board can make admission contingent on additional academic performances and/or examination performances of 30 CP at maximum being produced. In this case, the program can be extended accordingly.
