The four-semester Erziehungs- und Bildungswissenschaft / Educational Science master's program provides you with both a research-oriented and a profession-based course of study that deals with questions of development and education, teaching and learning, and advisement and organization. Already at the beginning of the program, you will specify a major study topic depending on your interest and technical profile (either Social Education or Extracurricular Adolescent and Adult Education) and will supplement it with practical professional competencies that you acquire during a systematic preparatory and follow-up internship. While theoretically expanding your empirical knowledge in the "Research Methods and Evaluation" module, you have the opportunity to perform your own small-scale research projects in research workshops. Modules from other subjects and exchange programs with foreign universities ensure the interdisciplinary and international alignment of the program.

Major topics

Through the choice of activity field-specific basic and in-depth modules, the program allows for major topics to be set in Social Education and Adult Education / Extracurricular Adolescent Education, as well as advanced modules in the fields of advisement, moderation and supervision, and future design and innovation in organized systems.

Objectives

As a successful master's graduate, professional options will open up to you on management and organizational levels of educational institutions in the professional fields of advisement, continuing education and training, in university and non-university research and in scientific work areas of funders, associations, ministries and educational and social administrations.

There is no precisely defined professional field, but during your entire course of study and especially during the internship, you will receive intensive support in correlating your course of study with a later professional field, developing prospects and being able to connect with contacts.

Experience has shown that the career paths of successful graduates of educational programs are very diverse. This also means that there are a variety of possibilities for selectively qualifying for specific fields, though previous professional experience, internships, initial professional experiences or additional qualifications.
