Motologie / Motology (Master of Arts)
Program: Motologie / Motology
Degree: Master of Arts (M.A.)
Program length: 2 years / 4 semesters (120 ECTS points)
The goal of the Motologie / Motology master's program is to holistically promote development. At the center of Motology is the question of how people can be supported in their development through working with physicality and movement. It deals with all age groups: children and adolescents, adults and the elderly. As an educational or therapeutic concept, it is represented in many institutions under the umbrella term of "Psychomotor Activity."
Students have the choice between the major study topics of "Body Psychotherapy" and “Development Support & Counseling in the Professional Field of Children and Adolescents". Both branches of study are based on theories of physicality and movement, self-awareness, developmental theory, diagnostics and group dynamics, and both major topics offer a selection of professional fields (children/adolescents, clinic adults, seniors, health support).
The major topic of “Body Psychotherapy” is primarily oriented toward working with adults in psychosomatic and psychiatric clinics. The scientific thematization of the field (Principles and Methods of Body Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Pathology, etc.) is linked with self-awareness and independent work with patients under supervision. The fundamentals of the therapeutic setting (therapeutic relationship and communication, crisis intervention) are taught and made accessible, as are method-specific procedures from the spectrum of dance therapy, gestalt therapy, bioenergetics and KBT.
The major study topic of “Development Support and Counseling in the Professional Field of Children and Adolescents” aims at the working field “Development Support in Childhood and Adolescence”. The psychomotor development support is based on developmental theories, uses them for diagnostic aspects and supports children and young people to take the next step in their development, e.g. in clinics, schools or psychomotor associations. For that theoretical and practical competencies for the implementation of consulting processes with parents and families are taught.
The Motologie / Motology master's program provides you with a strong, application-oriented overall qualification. Professional fields are found in development and health support, as well as in therapy. Motology is applied to the entire age range in corresponding educational and therapeutic institutions: in child and adolescent support institutions, in clinics for children, adolescents and adults, in psychiatric and psychosomatic clinics, in senior aid institutions, health centers, independent practices, technical colleges and universities, and independent work
There is also the possibility for a doctorate.
