Consent Form for Data Processing When Using the Philipps University of Marburg Digital Student ID Card

Consent

UniNow GmbH offers the digital student ID card on behalf of Phillips University of Marburg as a module of the Uni Marburg app. Use of this service is voluntary and does not form part of any contract on your part; if you choose not to use this service, you will not suffer any disadvantages. The processing of your personal data is necessary to provide the digital ID card, and we would like to ask for your consent to this.

Description of Data Processing

When you log in to the ID card module, a browser window opens prompting you to authenticate with the university systems (Shibboleth). After successful authentication, a pseudonym is sent to the systems of UniNow GmbH, which the service provider’s systems use to request your personal data for processing. The processed data is then sent to your smartphone, and the digital ID is generated using this data.

Every time you use the Uni Marburg app from Phillips University of Marburg, the system of the app provider UniNow GmbH automatically collects data and information from the system of the accessing device (user). The following data is collected in this process:

1. Information about the browser type and version used

2. Operating system and operating system version

3. User’s IP address (anonymized and truncated in log files)

4. Date and time of access

5. Destination URL accessed by the user’s system

For technical reasons, the above data is stored for the duration of the session to provide the service.

When a session is successfully started in the ID card module, the user’s pseudonym is transmitted from the university to the service provider. Under this pseudonym, the service provider’s systems store the time of your last login. This is done so that you do not have to enter your login credentials every time you access the ID card. For security reasons, sessions expire every 30 days and you must re-enter your login credentials; your data in the digital ID card is then updated.

As a result of data processing, the following data is output or displayed in the software (app):

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Validity period (semester)
  • Student ID number
  • Date of birth
