Early Career
We are constantly working to promote the next generation of scientists. Here you can find an overview of our early career programs.
-
Microbes-for-climate DFG Cluster of Excellence The research of the Microbes-for-Climate (M4C) cluster focuses on deciphering the essential role of microorganisms in our planet’s climate system. M4C is committed to shape the next generation of excellent researchers through a dynamic, individualized, and future-oriented training and networking framework. Early career Researchers (ECRs) benefit from a comprehensive range of scientific expertise and technological infrastructure within the cluster, allowing for unhindered research project development in state-of-the-art laboratories.
-
GRK2937 The Research Training Group Microbial Nucleotide Metabolism (MiNu), funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), analyzes those chemical building blocks (nucleotides) that nucleic acids such as DNA and RNA are composed of, in different microbial species, in order to uncover both their valid principles of nucleotide metabolism, species-specific adaptations in nucleotide-related metabolic pathways, and mechanisms for nucleotide modifications.
-
Microcosm Earth Center The "Microcosm Earth Center" builds on the long-standing, successful cooperation between the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology and the Philipps-Universität Marburg. It sets the stage for an early identification and development of new research topics and aims for the training and promotion of outstanding young talents in the field of microbiology. In a highly collaborative environment equipped with state-of-the-art research technology, the members of the center are working on finding solutions for the major challenges of our time.
-
iGEM iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) is an international synthetic biology competition hosted by the eponymous iGEM foundation.
-
International Max Planck Research School Since 2003 the IMPRS in Marburg offers an international PhD programme with excellent research opportunities for young scientists from all over the world. The programme provides interdisciplinary training in modern microbiology, state-of-the-art research facilities, and mentoring by world class scientists. As an IMPRS student you will be given the freedom to embark on your scientific journey!
