Welcome at the Faculty of Biology!


General information concerning teaching and research activities of the Faculty of Biology are given below. Strong focus is placed on research as reflected in the high number of grants awarded to individuals, graduate schools, and collaborative participation in national and international research consortia. About 1150 students receive an excellent education - CHE-Ranking - and are introduced early to independent practical labwork. Teaching is mostly in German.

Close collaboration with the nearby Max-Planck-Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology and LOEWE-Center for Synthetic Microbiology Synmikro guarantees further prospects for qualification, networking and interdisciplinary research projects.
