Requirements

Particularly qualified graduates have the opportunity to complete a doctorate at the department of biology after completing a relevant academic degree. This usually takes three years. The following formal requirements must be given for acceptance as a doctoral candidate:

  • Successful completion of a university degree (min. eight semesters of standard study time or Bachelor's and Master's degree).
  • For applicants who do not have sufficient previous knowledge in biology, an aptitude test can be carried out.

Notes on the new doctoral regulations from 20.07.2022

Please note that doctoral students accepted at the Department of Biology until 19.07.2022 study according to the "old" doctoral regulations of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Departments and the Medical Department for its mathematics and natural sciences subjects of the Philipps-Universität Marburg of 15.07.2009. Doctoral students accepted after 20.07.2022 study according to the version of the doctoral regulations of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Departments and the Medical Faculty for its mathematics and natural sciences subjects of the Philipps-Universität Marburg of 20.07.2022.
