Department News

  • Alfred Wegener Prize 2026
    Dr. Lara Heidrich (Semiconductor Photonics Group) and Dr. Yurii Radiev (Molecular Solid-State Physics Group) were awarded the Alfred Wegener Prize for their outstanding doctoral research. The award ceremony will take place on July 3, 2026, during the department's graduation ceremony.
  • Prof. Frank Bremmer Appointed as Adjunct Professor
    Prof. Frank Bremmer from the Applied Physics and Neurophysics group was appointed as an Adjunct Professor (Research) at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. This appointment strengthens international collaboration in visual neuroscience and space-motion perception.
  • Girls' Day 2026
    Eleven enthusiastic girls from grades 7 to 9 participated in the Girls' Day event on April 23, 2026. They engaged in hands-on activities in the department's workshops and research groups, gaining insights into studying physics and the world of science.
  • New DBU Fellowship in the "Physics of Solar Energy Conversion" Group
    Malwine Lühder received a doctoral scholarship from the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) for her interdisciplinary work on low-dimensional perovskites. She is the third DBU fellow in this research group.
