The “Educational Science” program combines a broad-based foundation in educational theory and practice with introductions to the professional focus areas of social pedagogy and inclusive education. The program is structured into modules that initially focus on the substantive and methodological foundations of the discipline. Concurrently, students acquire practical professional skills, particularly through a systematically prepared and supervised internship. This is followed by introductory modules in the two subject areas of social pedagogy and inclusive education. In later semesters, modules related to the field of practice (reflective case work, psychosocial counseling) are offered, or a required elective module in which students can focus on specific content areas. Modules from other disciplines and exchange programs with foreign universities ensure the interdisciplinary and international orientation of the program.

Major topics

Opportunities for your individual focus during your studies arise, for example, from the choice of internships, a project-based study at the end of your studies, the selection of modules from other subjects, or the individual selection of topics for study and examination performance within the broad range of topics offered by the study programs.

Objectives

The Educational Science bachelor's program prepares graduates to pursue careers requiring academic qualifications across the entire field of education, training, and social services, such as youth welfare, child and adolescent psychiatry, services for people with disabilities, residential care, social work, or counseling. There is no clearly defined career path for graduates with a bachelor’s degree; instead, a very broad spectrum of career opportunities opens up.
