Eligibility assessment process - Psychology (MS)
Documents to be submitted
The following documents and certifications are required for participation in the eligibility assessment process:
- Application for admission (online application of the online application portal)
- The first, qualifying degree (usually a bachelor’s) with final grade.
- Certification of skills in the English language at Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe
Only complete applications which are submitted in the required form and within the specific deadline can be considered for the eligibility assessment process.
The professionally qualifying bachelor's degree or comparable university degree must comprise at least 240 credit points (ECTS) or a program with a length of 8 semesters or 4 years and have been successfully completed with an overall grade of at least "satisfactory" (grade 3.0 or 8 grade points). The psychological component of the program content must be at least 60% and the following content must be a part of the program:
- Basic subjects combined at least 36 ECTS (General Psychology, Biological Psychology, Differential/Personality Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology)
- Research methodology/statistics min. 24 ECTS
- Psychological diagnostics / testing design min 10 ECTS
- In-depth and application subjects at least 12 ECTS (Occupational/Labor/Organizational/Industrial Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychology / Educational Psychology or Neuroscientific Psychology)
Criteria for personal disciplinary suitability
Personal disciplinary suitability is evaluated based on the submitted documents, according to the following criteria. A total of up to 8 suitability points can be achieved.
Up to 3,5 suitability points are acquired for discipline-related qualifications from the first professionally qualifying degree in the major topic subjects of the Master:
- 3,5 suitability points: min. 21 credit points each (accord. to ECTS) in 2 of the following 4 in-depth subjects:
- Child and Adolescent Psychology / Educational Psychology / School Psychology
- Clinical Psychology
- Neuroscientific Psychology
- Industrial Psychology / Occupational / Labor / Organizational Psychology
- 2,5 suitability points: at least 21 credit points (according to ECTS) in one and at least 12 credit points (according to ECTS) in a second of the aforementioned in-depth subjects
- 1,5 suitability points: at least 21 credit points (according to ECTS) in one or at least 12 credit points (according to ECTS) in each of two of the aforementioned in-depth subjects
- 0,5 suitability point: at least 12 credit points (according to ECTS) in one of the aforementioned in-depth subjects or at least 6 credit points (according to ECTS) in each of two of the in-depth subjects
Up to 4,5 suitability points are assigned for the final grade point average or, if the final grade point average should not be available, a submitted, calculated average grade on the basis of at least 70% of the credit points required for the bachelor's degree, according to the following key:
Grade 0,7 – 1,1 (13.6 – 15.0 grade points) => 4,5 points
Grade 1,2 – 1,7 (11.9 – 13.5 grade points) => 3,5 points
Grade 1,8 – 2,3 (10.0 – 11.8 grade points) => 2,5 points
Grade 2,4 – 3,0 (8.0 – 9.9 grade points) => 1,5 point

An evaluation of the degree of suitability with a total of at least 5 points is prerequisite for admission to the program.
