Csaba Földes: Lexik und Semantik in einem Spagat zwischen zwie Sprachen und Kulturen. Befunde und Erkenntnisse einer kontaktlinguistischen Feldforschung

The present article deals with lexical and semantic aspects of the structure of linguistic usage at a basis level in a complex contact and integration situation in an area in which several languages and cultures meet. The material for the investigation is provided by an extensive field project in Hajosch/Hajós (County Bács-Kiskun), a locality in the area inhabited by the German minority in Hungary. The resulting examination of the spoken language of bilingual and multilingual speakers has revealed a set of polymorphic linguistic-communicative phenomena in the areas of lexis and semantics involving contact, convergence and interaction. The analysis of the data has shown that the semantic and lexical usages of the speech community investigated here are characterized by numerous and varied forms of hybridization. The classes and types of phenomena adduced here seem to have a general validity for intercultural contexts.
