26.04.2021 Discussion Group Norm Research

The discussion group norm research was initiated in March 2021 by doctoral, postdoctoral, and professorial staff from the Center for Conflict Studies, who share an interest in the study of norms, their diffusion and translation across time and space. Our interests coincide in regard to how and why (international) norms spread, the focus on conflict(ual) dynamics and settings, and human rights. Yet, the individual research projects differ greatly and thus offer manifold points of entry and engagement for fruitful discussions.

The discussion group will hold three initial meetings during the summer semester and invites all interested students (BA and MA), doctoral, postdoctoral, and professorial staff of the university to participate. The meetings constitute an open discussion forum and are explicitly proposed to be interdisciplinary and non-hierarchical. The organizers will bring a short input from their own research to each of the meetings, but otherwise the format is open for any contributions from all participants. Proposals are very welcome and can be either announced via email to the organizers or brought to the meetings directly.

Sessions will be held in English. Topics and materials will be sent in advance, thus prior registration via is required.
