Description:
Many international students in Germany are uncertain about how to build contacts, present themselves convincingly, and maintain relationships over the long term. The targeted use of digital platforms such as LinkedIn for networking often also presents a challenge.
This seminar provides practical guidance on how to network authentically and genuinely in Germany. Participants learn to leverage their personal strengths, initiate conversations confidently, and conduct them purposefully. Networking opportunities are used strategically, and suitable formats for international students in Germany such as professional associations, trade fairs, or conferences are introduced. A focus is also placed on follow-up: how to maintain contacts over time and build a sustainable network.
The goal is the step-by-step development of a sustainable professional network that can be individually built, maintained over time, and provide long-term advantages for career entry.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the seminar, students will be able to:
• Recognize and assess the importance and personal value of professional networking for study and career entry.
• Apply strategies to build authentic relationships and maintain them over the long term.
• Initiate conversations, listen actively, and carry out follow-ups effectively.
• Evaluate the opportunities and limitations of online and offline networking and use them purposefully.
• Reflect on personal obstacles in the networking process and develop individual strategies to overcome them.
