At the invitation of the renowned annual conference of the Swiss Society for Financial Market Research (SGF), we were able to present our current study " Fund Manager Narcissism" (A. Bauer, D. Scheld, O. Stolper) as part of the Behavioral Finance Panel leaded by Prof. Matthias Weber (University of St. Gallen). In our study we investigate the effects of narcissistic personality tendencies in fund management. We find that "everyday narcissism" is particularly pronounced among fund managers. This in turn has consequences for investors: fund managers with particular narcissistic tendencies generate below-average risk-adjusted returns and deviate particularly frequently from the advertised investment focus of the fund.

For those interested the study is available under the following link: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4049786

The Behavioural Finance Research Group would like to thank the SGF and the discussion round for their attention and excellent suggestions regarding our study.
