Course Offer

  • School of Business and Economics (FB02)

    International students are welcome to choose from a wide range of courses offered by the School of Business and Economics.

    Our Course Guide provides an overview of available courses taught in English, including the number of ECTS credits.

    Please note that undergraduate students must have completed at least 60 ECTS in Business Administration or Economics plus Methods to be eligible to register for graduate (Master’s) courses within the School of Business and Economics. To be able to register for the graduate course, please write a mail to the before the official start of the lectures.

    The language proficiency requirements are B2 in the teaching language (German or English). If you wish to take German-taught courses at our faculty, please submit a language certificate to the .

  • MIX (Marburg International Exchange)

    The MIX program allows exchange students to take courses across various faculties, regardless of their own field of study and exchange program.  There is no additional application needed to be able to register for MIX courses. Students are free to mix and match as they like.

  • MO:VE (MarburgOnline : VirtualExchange)

    MO:VE students can choose from a selection of fully digital courses offered across various faculties. Please note that the School of Business offers only the course Institutional Economics for MO:VE students.

  • European Track for EUPeace Alliance Students

    The EU Peace track offers students from EU Peace member universities a selection of both on-campus and online courses. These cover a variety of disciplines related to peace, conflict resolution, and European integration. Registration is only open to students from EU Peace member universities.

    The full list of courses is available on MARVIN, where eligible students can also register. From the faculty of business and economics the courses "Introduction to Institutional Economics" and "Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Peace, Justice and Inclusive Societies" are offered.

  • Language Courses

    The Language Center offers German courses as well as a wide range of other languages. For courses above level A1, a placement test is required to ensure proper placement. Registration for all courses is carried out via the Language Center’s website.

  • Thesis (B.Sc./M.Sc./PhD)

    Exchange students who wish to complete their bachelor or master thesis or work on their doctoral thesis during their stay at the University of Marburg have to inform the exchange coordinator at the School of Business and Economics about the thesis project in advance, before starting their study in Marburg. The same examination regulations apply for exchange students as for regular students. Learning Agreements and ECTS for a thesis can only be confirmed if a supervisor of the School of Business and Economics accepts to supervise and assess the thesis project.

    ·         Bachelor thesis module has 12 ECTS

    ·         Master thesis module has 18 or 30 ECTS

    A detailed request for thesis supervision should be sent together with the following documents to the relevant research group, whose teaching and research area matches with your thesis topic:

    ·         CV

    ·         Transcript of records (ToR)

    ·         Abstract or proposal of your project

    The thesis will be recorded in an addendum to the learning agreement.

Registration for courses and examinations

  • Students from the faculties 02, 09 and 19

    Course and exam registration takes place via the university platform MARVIN. All courses, including module descriptions and schedules, can be found there. To view the list of courses open to international students, go to My Studies and then select Planner of studies with Module plan. For step-by-step instructions on how to register for courses and exams, please refer to our Registration Manual.

    Most modules at the faculty are worth 6 ECTS credits. An exception is the course Controlling with Excel, where only half of the module is taught in English. Therefore, non-German-speaking students can take only this part of the module and earn 3 ECTS credits upon completion. Full-time students typically complete around 30 ECTS credits per semester. Please note that some courses such as language courses or courses offered by other faculties may carry a different number of credits.

  • Students from other faculties

    For students from faculties not integrated in the MARVIN system, course and exam registration takes place via our Exchange students ILIAS group. Please consult our ILIAS Registration Manual  for a detailed explanation.
