Research Projects

The research topics in the field of International Relations lie at the intersection of international security policy and global political economy. In recent years, central themes have included the justification of military missions abroad in international comparison, European and German security and foreign economic policy, the international politics of the Euro, global governance in maritime spaces, and burden-sharing within military alliances. A number of monographs, edited volumes, and journal articles have been published on these topics.

 Additionally, we focus on the relevance of spatial perspectives and spatial theories for the discipline of International Relations, as well as the role of infrastructure and logistics networks within global politics, particularly in the East African region.
