Information on registering for and deregistering from courses
How can I register for/deregister from a course at Faculty 03 (FB03)?
Registration for/deregistration from courses is done via MARVIN (login required) and must be done by the strict deadline (GER). Please note that other deadlines may apply to modules in other departments.
You can only register for courses that are part of a module approved in your Degree Program and Examination Regulations (GER).
If you are unsure whether you are allowed to attend a module on a regular basis, please read our information under “Attendance, selection of courses and modules”.
(Guest students: see notes under “I cannot register for the course...”).
I missed the deadline for course registration. What does this mean?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to register for the course via MARVIN after the deadline (GER)).
If the instructor agrees, you can still attend the course.
Course registration in Department 03 is separate from exam registration. Even if you are not registered for the course, you can register for the examination and/or a required coursework grade by the applicable deadlines.
You can join the ILIAS course assigned to the course if you know the password or if the instructor would like to assign you manually.
I cannot register for the course. Why? What should I do?
If you are unable to register for courses in Department 03 modules, please check:
1) Whether the deadline (GER) for course registration has passed (for courses in other departments, please contact the academic adviser there);
If you have missed the deadline, see above.2) Whether you are allowed to take the module to which the course is assigned (-> see “Attendance, selection of courses and modules”)
3) If you are allowed to take the module but cannot register for reasons other than those described above, please contact the Integrated Campus Management (iCM) coordinator at the department offering this course; for Department 03 modules, please e-mail marvin03[at]uni-marburg.de. Be sure to include the following:
-A description of the problem document with a screenshot,
-Your student number,
-The PO version in which you are enrolled,
-The course number and the name of the module in which you would like to take this course.

If you are a guest student, you cannot register for courses via MARVIN. Please proceed as follows:
E-mail the instructors whose courses you are allowed to attend in accordance with your guest student card:Subject: Adding a guest student to an ILIAS course
Dear [title, name]:I am writing to ask if you could add me to the ILIAS course for your course [title and course number], as I am not allowed to register via MARVIN as a guest student (cf. FAQs for Department 03 on Learning & Teaching).
The way this works is as follows: First, “Search user” with “[ILIAS username of the guest student]”, then from the results select “Add course member” and “execute”.
Thank you in advance for your help. Sincerely,
[your name] [your ILIAS username]Please attach a screenshot of your guest student card to the e-mail and be sure you send it from your student e-mail address.
4) If the registration button is missing for import/export modules, please first make sure that the correct semester has been set. Then please try the following: Click on “Show structure” for account EX-03-...-.....-.. and a window will open. In it, open the module from the module list and you should be able to see the exam registration.
Can I register for courses that are not open to me according to the Degree Program and Examination Regulations (StPO)?
Courses that are not offered in modules that are available to you according to the Degree Program and Examination Regulations applicable to you cannot be included in your curriculum. You cannot register for these via MARVIN.
However, if the lecturer agrees to your participation, you can attend the course in a non-compulsory manner.
Participation will be neither certified nor appear on your transcript of records.
I have a question about the content of a course. Who can answer it?
Instructors or student advisors are responsible for questions regarding the course contents. The module descriptions (GER) (each course is assigned to a module) and the announcements in the course catalogue also provide details on the content.
