Competence Training for Mastering Discrimination (COMADI)

Orgun Özcan

Discrimination and rejection of diversity are often experienced or witnessed. How can I prepare myself for and react to discriminating statements? How can I overcome that first shock of the moment? How can we take a stand against discrimination and in favor of diversity in daily life together? How can we de-escalate if required?

In just one day, participants can learn and practice as groups through our competence training for mastering discrimination (COMADI) how to recognize discrimination, react de-escalatingly and humorously, communicate effectively, take a stand, keep calm, mentally deal with experienced discrimination, de-escalate in situations of escalation and show courage of their convictions. Additionally, consequences and causes of discrimination alongside the role of media are discussed to target self-reflection and sensitization. A global goal for participants is to find their individual model behavior against daily discrimination in order to appropriately shape their encounters together.
