B.Sc. Wirtschaftsmathematik (Business Mathematics)
This primary, practice-oriented bachelor’s degree provides a solid knowledge in mathematics focusing on statistics, numerical analysis and optimization, the basics of theoretical computer science, an internship for job orientation as well as the foundational studies in business administration and economics. The degree enables entry into professions involving economics and administration utilizing the methods of business mathematics, as well as into a master’s studies program (under additional requirements). Graduates are in particular able to develop and implement solutions to practical problems with the help of mathematical methods within the context of economic requirements. They are further able to work in a team consisting of representatives of other faculties.
The B.Sc. Wirtschaftsmathematik program is comprised of modules (What are modules?) from the fields of mathematics, economics and computer science. The following table provides an overview of the modules to be completed throughout the course of study according to their allocation to academic disciplines in terms of content. The fundamentals are taught in the basic modules, while the advanced modules take the content further, and the practical modules provide students the opportunity to practice applying what they have learned. The elective modules can be chosen based on individual interests. Further information on the study program can be found at the German program web page, in the Study and Examination Regulations (in German only) and the current module guide.

Areas of Specialisation
The advanced modules and those modules that are taken in the latter phases of studies can be used to build an area of specialisation, with a stronger focus either on mathematics or on business administration or economics. Building an area of specialisation is optional; the specialisation will be noted on the final transcript of those students who complete an area of specialisation. In order for the area of specialisation to be listed on the final transcript, students are required to complete certain upper level modules related to the area of specialisation. Students are also required to complete a bachelor’s thesis on a topic directly related to the area of specialisation. Further information on the eligible areas of specialisation is given on the German web page of the study program.
