International Students

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science welcomes applications for its degree programs from international students. The department offers Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs in Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Computer Science, and Data Science. Our official website on degree programs offers a complete list of degree programs offered by the department. Applications can be submitted for full degree programs or for student exchange programs of one or two semesters.

All our degree programs are accredited and undergo regular evaluations. The department is committed to high standards in teaching and student counseling, and offers a broad and constantly growing curriculum of German- and English-taught courses.

Full Degree Program

Students interested in joining the University of Marburg for a full degree program need to follow the official application procedures. The details for the different application procedures and admission criteria vary between undergraduate and advanced degrees. Note that applications for PhD studies have to be directed to specific professors. Please consult our faculty list for an overview of the research groups in our department. More details about the different programs can be found here:

Student Exchange Program

Students interested in an international student exchange may use different programs to visit Marburg for one or two semesters. We provide further details about these programs, application processes, and admission criteria on our student exchange website.

Language: The default instruction and teaching language for all Bachelor-level courses in Marburg is German, but a growing number of courses in the Master's program is taught in English; for the vast majority of courses, learning material is available in English. All students applying for a full degree program have to prove proficiency in German through a standardized test before being fully admitted. Conditional admission is possible and preparatory German language courses are available on site. The language requirement is waived for PhD and exchange students. Nevertheless, for incoming exchange students in Bachelor or Master programs, we recommend German level B1.
