International Students

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science welcomes applications for its degree programs from international students. The department offers Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs in Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Informatics and Data Science. Here you find a complete list of degree programs offered by the department. Applications can be submitted for full degree programs or student exchange programs of one or two semesters.

All our degree programs are accredited and undergo regular evaluations. The department is committed to high standards in teaching and student counseling.

The application procedure and admission criteria vary. Please follow the respective link.

Once admitted to a full degree program or student exchange program there are no tuition fees beyond the semester fee, which includes a free ticket for public transport in the state of Hesse. The department cannot offer financial support to Bachelor's or Master's students. Organizations such as the DAAD offer fellowships and some exchange programs also include financial support. PhD students are usually funded through a fellowship or a research/teaching assistantship.

The language of instruction is German for all courses except some Master's level courses taught in English. In particular, all students applying for full degree Bachelor's or Master's programs have to prove proficiency in German through a standardized test before being fully admitted. Conditional admission is possible and preparatory German language courses are available on site. The language requirement is waived for PhD and exchange students. Nevertheless, for incoming exchange students in Bachelor's or Master's programs we recommend German level B1. We would like to mention though that learning material in English is available for the vast majority of courses.
