The German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, DAAD) has established the “Hilde Domin Program” with funds from the German Federal Foreign Office.

This scholarship program provides at-risk students worldwide as well as doctoral candidates who are formally or de facto denied the right to education in their countries of origin with support to take up or continue their studies in Germany to earn a degree or doctorate at a German university. Students and doctoral candidates who are nominated and selected through the program will be enrolled in degree programs of their personal choice at Philipps-Universität Marburg in accordance with their individual qualifications, and they will receive a scholarship that covers the necessary costs of their study or research stay. In addition, all scholarship holders receive further interdisciplinary training in order to support the development of their personality and their contribution to society.

Potential candidates may not apply for the Hilde Domin Program on their own; instead, their nomination to the DAAD must be made by the university administration of Philipps-Universität Marburg.

Students and doctoral candidates who meet the nomination requirements and wish to apply are encouraged first to contact the International Office at Philipps-Universität Marburg. In addition, any member of the university has the opportunity to submit proposals for suitable candidates to the International Office.

After an initial plausibility check of the nominations received, the nominations will be forwarded to the DAAD. The DAAD will invite suitable candidates to submit an online application. Final selection of candidates will be made by an independent selection committee appointed by the DAAD.

Both vulnerability and academic performance will be evaluated as a part of this selection process.
