2025 election of the doctoral candidates representation

At 17 June 2025, the doctoral candidates general assembly will take place, followed by the election of the new doctoral candidates representation. Here you can find all important information - together with the cordial invitation to participate and help shape!

Election - What conditions do I have to fulfil in order to participate in the election?
The election will take place parallely to the Hochschulwahlen, from 18 June to 2 July 2025. All persons who are admitted as doctoral candidates at Marburg University can participate. The decisive criterion for admission is that your department has accepted your application for acceptance as a doctoral candidate. The easiest way to check this is by checking your status as a doctoral candidate in Marvin. We know that in some departments it is still common to submit the application for acceptance as a doctoral candidate only shortly before the actual doctorate. However, in order to be able to participate in future elections, you need to submit the application beforehand. This is not much work: You can find out how it works here: https://www.uni-marburg.de/de/forschung/talente/promovieren-in-marburg/organisation

The election will be conducted via the platform ILIAS, so you need an ILIAS account. If you have any questions, please contact ilias@uni-marburg.de. You will receive the required information in time by email. The anonymity of your vote is guaranteed, the result of the election will be announced by email. IMPORTANT: Please log in to Marvin BEFORE starting the election and check whether a university address (whether staff or students) is entered correctly under ‘Doctoral correspondence address’ and correct it if not. Should you not be able to register in time, you can of course still contact the elected Doctoral Candidates' Representation with your concerns.
If you are having trouble voting, please be sure to contact us in time!

What is it all about?
Since 2021, the Philipps-Universität has a General Doctoral Candidates' Representation, which currently consists of 10 doctoral candidates from a wide variety of departments and works to address the problems and concerns of all doctoral candidates across all disciplines plus giving doctoral candidates a voice in university politics. In the first terms of office, we organized various workshops, guided tours and networking meetings, were (and still are!) the point of contact for all doctoral candidates with various concerns, participated in committee meetings, prepared an information brochure and a survey for doctoral candidates, exchanged information with other representatives nationwide and much more. Now, new elections are coming up in June 2025. We need your help, both as candidates and as voters!

  • How does the Plenary Assembly proceed on 17.06.2025?
The Assembly will decide on the election regulations and the coming election period, and there will also be enough room for exchanges on content and your own topics. Finally, all candidates will introduce themselves so that you have a good basis for decision-making for the subsequent online election. You will get all relevant informations soon via mail.
  • I do not have time on 17.06.2025, can I still vote?
Absolutely! The election of the representation itself will take place from 18 June to 2 July via ILIAS. So you have enough time to cast your vote – please take this chance!
