From the atom to the dynamics of molecules in living cells - get inspired by the broad spectrum of Marburg biochemistry. Deepen your knowledge of topics such as metabolic biochemistry, membrane biology and bioanalytics. Contribute to current research topics and research the molecular understanding of microorganisms in global material cycles (climate gases and soil fertility through nitrogen and phosphorus availability) and their role as significant pathogens for humans and plants. Benefit from the close interaction with local industry partners at the Behring Campus and deepen your knowledge and techniques in research internships, some of which you can complete abroad.
Concentrations
The Marburg degree programme has a particular focus on synthetic microbiology, structural biology and quantitative high-resolution microscopy.
Objectives
Obtaining the Master of Science degree with research-oriented training in biochemistry provides an excellent portfolio for advanced careers in academia and industry.
Admission requirements
Required university degree Relevant Bachelor's degree in the field of - Chemistry

- or comparable domestic or foreign university degree that qualifies the student for a profession, in particular second state examination in pharmacy.
In addition, basic knowledge comparable to the module "Biochemistry I Lecture" on the structure and reactivity of biochemistry included in the " Chemistry" bachelor's degree programme at Philipps-Universität Marburg amounting to 6 CP as well as to the module "Biochemistry I Practical Course" amounting to 6 CP must be proven.
The Examination Committee may link admission to the condition that additional coursework and/or examinations totalling a maximum of 6 CP be completed. In such cases, the degree programme may be prolonged accordingly.
