Career Paths in Cultural Education
Youth and Adult Education, Inclusive Education, Cultural and Environmental Education, Political Education (Anti-discrimination, Anti-racism)
Another truism: culture is education – cultural scientists are educated people. Interestingly, in this field of study, not only does the degree of specialization increase with each level (bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate), but so does the level of general education. Alongside their peers from foreign languages and literature, graduates of cultural studies are welcome and frequently represented in extracurricular education. However, cultural education can also have its downsides, with a long tradition of exoticism and colonial appropriation in Germany. Creating a culture of more emancipatory education through information, awareness, and reflection could be one of the main tasks of modern cultural studies scholars, bringing them together with professionals from the political and social sciences. Career entry is gained through the subject area, level of education, and experience with and knowledge of methodology and didactics.
