Molecular and biochemical lab

Our overall mission is to understand how ribonucleases mediate the degradation and maturation of RNA during the transition and stationary growth phase in the model organism Bacillus subtilis.

RNA degradation and maturation are key processes in the control of gene expression in bacteria and are essential for the cell’s homeostasis of nucleotide pools. RNases (Ribonucleases) are essential for maturation, degradation, and turnover of RNA. Specific ribonucleases and potential interaction partners will be investigated biochemically and molecularly.
