"Year of Remembrance 1945:2025"
The year 2025 marks a significant anniversary for the historical and societal engagement with the crimes and consequences of National Socialism and World War II. Eighty years ago, pivotal events took place: the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp, Germany’s unconditional surrender, which marked the end of World War II in Europe, and the beginning of the Nuremberg International Military Tribunal.
The ICWC uses these historical events as an occasion to commemorate the year 1945 through a variety of events. With symposia, exhibitions, podcast episodes, social media campaigns, and collaborative events, we aim to reflect on the past and highlight its significance for the present and the future.
