The Bachelor’s degree programme in Protestant Theology offers you the opportunity to explore Christianity from an academic perspective – from its biblical roots to its role in the church, culture and society today.
You will be introduced to the central theological disciplines and learn:
- Interpret biblical texts in a philologically sound and reflective manner.
- To understand the history of Christianity and its religious practices.
- To question theological concepts and understand dogmatic connections.
- Analyse ethical issues and social developments from a theological perspective.
Through intensive engagement with historical traditions and current challenges, you will develop the ability to independently assess theological issues – an essential skill for a wide range of professional fields and further studies.

With their broad cultural hermeneutic and historical knowledge, sound theological knowledge and scientific methodological skills, our graduates are ideally prepared for a wide range of challenges. Their analytical and interpretative skills, combined with their strong communication skills, enable them to master complex tasks in a variety of professional fields – whether in churches and communities, educational and cultural institutions, social services, human resources, media and public relations, or consulting.
