The Self-Access Learning Center as Support for Your Language Course

The Self-Access Learning Center (SLZ) at the Language Center offers language instructors and their course participants a wide range of resources and services to support independent and interactive language learning.

What the SLZ offers language instructors:

  • At the beginning of each semester, the SLZ offers a special orientation session for language instructors. This provides an overview of the available materials, services, and ways to make use of the Self-Access Learning Center.
  • You can borrow SLZ materials free of charge for use in your classes, including books, newspapers, magazines, films, and audio resources.
  • You can reserve the SLZ free of charge for your own course and work there with your students while making use of the center's various resources and facilities.
  • You can arrange a course-specific workshop or introduction tailored to your students' needs, which will be conducted by the student assistants.
  • You can allow your students to make up missed classes through independent study in the SLZ or by participating in activities such as language cafés, workshops, Mini Book Clubs, or Let's Play events.
  • By prior arrangement, students can also make up missed tests or examinations in the SLZ.
