Research & Documentation

One of the core tasks of the ICWC is the documentation of and research on (historical) war crimes trials. To this end, the ICWC collaborates with a wide range of archives within and beyond Europe and makes its extensive holdings available both in the form of original sources and through a comprehensive database. In addition, you will find the legal sources of various international criminal tribunals as well as the transcripts of the Nuremberg International Military Tribunal.

Furthermore, the ICWC provides detailed information on its research priorities, such as ‘Limits of Military Force’ and ‘Gender in International Criminal Law.’ The ICWC also supports the research activities of young scholars and supervises a number of doctoral projects.
