10.04.2026 New Course: "Violence, Gender and Resistance"

This summer term, Off University and Marburg University are offering a course together.

Off University

Topic

At a time of incessant wars, widespread mass displacement and rising authoritarianism, the production and dissemination of knowledge are increasingly under threat. Off University stands with at-risk scholars and students, and with those defending critical thinking across borders. This semester, we affirm peace as both a political demand and an intellectual responsibility. Join us in sustaining spaces where learning, solidarity, and critical inquiry can continue despite violence and repression.

Violence, Gender and Resistance in West Asia examines gender-based violence in West Asia through feminist and queer perspectives, focusing on its intersection with authoritarian governance and social norms. Special attention is paid to issues like domestic violence, femicide, and violence against displaced populations. We explore these themes through a regional comparative analysis, engaging with activism and survival strategies that contest violence and create alternative spaces of agency.
