How do I get to the venue?

Thanks to its proximity to Frankfurt am Main, Marburg is well connected to the German rail network and international air travel.

  • By Train

    Regional and long-distance trains run to Marburg Central Station. Tickets can be purchased on the Deutsche Bahn website: https://www.bahn.de/. The destination station is “Marburg (Lahn).”

    From the station, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the Sprachatlas. Alternatively, you can take bus lines 1, 2, 5, 6, or 7 from the station to the “Erwin-Piscator-Haus” stop. From there, it’s about a 5-minute walk to the event venue (travel time by bus is about 10 minutes).

    A single-ride ticket for adults costs €3 for the short distance. It can be purchased on the bus, at ticket machines at the train station, via the RMV app, or on the website.

  • By Car

    By car, you can reach the city from Frankfurt via the A5 and from Gießen and Kassel via the B3.

  • By Plane

    The distance from Frankfurt Airport is about 100 km, and the drive takes about 1 hour by car and 1,5 hours by train. Frankfurt Airport has a regional and long-distance train station. Tickets for long-distance trains are usually more expensive than those for regional service.

    Regional Service at the Airport:

    The regional train station is located in Terminal 1, Level -1, from where S-Bahn, regional, and local trains depart.

    Information and Tickets:
    You can obtain information and tickets for regional service at the “RMV Mobility Center under the Airport.” It is located in Terminal 1, Area B, Level 0 (Arrivals).

    You can purchase tickets for regional service at the RMV ticket machines. These are located in the regional train station in Terminal 1, Area B, Level 0 (Arrivals). Please note that you must purchase your ticket before boarding. Surcharges apply for InterCity connections.

    Take the train or S-Bahn to Frankfurt/Hauptbahnhof and transfer there to a train bound for Marburg. From Marburg Central Station, you can take city buses (stop in front of the station) on lines 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7. Please ride to the “An der Elisabethkirche” stop.

    Long-distance travel from the Airport:

    The long-distance train station is located in the “AIRail Terminal,” right next to Terminal 1. Trains arrive and depart from platforms 4 through 7.

    Information and tickets: You can get advice and purchase train tickets for long-distance travel at the Travel Center. You’ll find it in Terminal 1, Area B, Level 0 (Arrivals), as well as directly in the AIRail Terminal on Level 3. Additional information is available at the “DB Service Point.” It is located in Terminal 1, Area B, Level 0 (Arrivals). Hours: 24 hours a day.
