In-depth Modul Institutional Economics

Economic analysis focusing on the development of suitable institutional solutions for major economic and social problems is a particular focus of the Economics programme at the University of Marburg. In this in-depth module, you will learn about analytical tools in institutional economics analysis and how to apply them to problems in environmental economics, development economics, competition and regulation, as well as to economic analysis of law and other areas. In other words, studying institutions prepares students for a broad range of work in various fields, both in professional practice and in academia.

This part of the degree allows students to acquire key qualifications and select one of the following profiles:

  Students can choose from a wide range of courses in related disciplines, such as political science, sociology, psychology and history in order to expand their interdisciplinary expertise.

  In addition to environmental economics, this module allows you to select key courses in other disciplines (e.g. biology and geography) relating to the problem of sustainability so as to develop holistic solutions for this problem.
