Structure

The Master's degree in Business Administration is designed as a 4-semester programme. Students earn a total of 120 credits.

While "specialised business administration" core modules can be completed throughout the regular semesters, key qualifications and methods modules are to be completed at the start of the programme.

In subsequent semesters, students can pursue their core areas and round their studies with the free electives and interdisciplinary course offerings available at the University of Marburg, as a full-spectrum university. Study abroad is possible, particularly in the third semester.

At the end of the programme, students prepare an independent Master's thesis to demonstrate the subject-specific knowledge and methodological know-how they acquired.

  • Specialised Business Administration

This area includes the main specialised business administration modules and allows students to choose a focus. The programme is characterised by clearly structured electives, which give students the opportunity to develop an individual profile in value-based corporate management. The electives are organised in three core areas, which are designed based on various perspectives of value-based corporate management. These core areas provide students with a solid academic foundation, as well as teaching strong practical skills in business administration and the ability to develop improved solutions. To complete a core area, students must successfully complete at least 5 modules (6 credits each, for a total of 30 credits), including a seminar module in their area of concentration.

  • Methods Module

The methods modules allow students to expand their knowledge of methods. In doing so, students will be adding to their toolbox of methods for future courses and their final thesis.

  • Electives

Electives give students the opportunity to round their profile. This module also allows students to easily earn credit for study abroad. Coursework of up to 18 credits may be recognised even without an equivalent at the University of Marburg.

  • Profile Modules: Key Qualifications and International Affairs

Profile modules consist of courses in key qualifications and interdisciplinary modules.

  • Master's Thesis

In the final module, the Master's thesis, students apply the specialised expertise and methods they have acquired in order to independently analyse and present a defined problem from the programme’s subject area using academic methods.
