EEG lab

We have two EEG labs each equipped with an electrically shielded, sound-attenuated experimental chamber to conduct electrophysiology experiments. One lab is especially suited to visual perception experiments, while the other is optimized for combined EEG and motion tracking.

EEG system

We have two state-of-the-art ActiCAP EEG systems with 64-channels each (BrainProducts) which can be combined to simultaneously record from 128-channels. ActiCAP uses active electrodes based on high-quality Ag/AgCl sensors. These electrodes pre-amplify the signal directly at the scalp resulting in an improved signal-to-noise ratio.

EEG Analysis Software

We use the BrainVision Analyzer (BVA; BrainProducts) and Matlab toolboxes such as fieldtrip and EEGLAB to analyze EEG data. BVA is a user-friendly software for the analysis of event-related potentials (ERPs). An editable history tree allows organizing, exploring and tracing all evaluation steps, automated analysis with drag & drop functions speed up recurring tasks. For more advanced analyses and more flexible data processing steps, we use fieldtrip toolbox developed at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behavior or EEGLAB developed at the Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience.
