Evolutionary and Functional Genomics
Our lab focuses on the computational analysis of the evolution and regulation of complex human traits. We integrate genomic, single-cell transcriptomic, and proteomic data to investigate how gene regulation and molecular interactions drive phenotypic diversity. Located at the Center for Human Genetics at Marburg University and Universitätsklinikum Marburg, we work on interpreting genome-wide association signals within a systems biology framework. To this end, we employ a multidisciplinary toolkit that includes next-generation sequencing analysis, network modeling, evolutionary simulations, and advanced statistical methods. By unifying these approaches, we aim to uncover fundamental principles of gene regulation and evolution, and to provide mechanistic insights into the molecular basis of human traits.
