Monitoring in trial against Emrah E.

Since the start of the main hearing on June 3, 2013, participants of the Marburg Trial Monitoring Programme have been observing the trial against Emrah E.

The defendant is accused of having committed three legally independent offenses between May 2010 and June 2012 in the border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan: membership in a terrorist organization whose purpose includes murder and manslaughter; attempted incitement of another person to commit aggravated robbery; and disturbing the public peace in the Federal Republic of Germany by threatening bomb attacks. The defendant is alleged to be criminally liable under § 129b (1) No. 1 in conjunction with § 129a (1), § 30 (1) in conjunction with § 249 (1), § 250 (1) No. 1b, § 126 (2) in conjunction with (1) Nos. 2 and 6, § 212 (1), § 25 (2), §§ 52, 53 of the German Criminal Code (StGB). However, the Senate did not find sufficient suspicion to justify charges regarding the alleged killing.
