Trial against Mohamed A. G.
According to the indictment, Mohamed A. G. was a member of the “Islamic State” (IS) from 2013 to 2015 (§ 129a StGB). The activities of the foreign terrorist organization were directed towards murder (§ 211 StGB), manslaughter (§ 212 StGB), genocide (§ 6 VStGB), crimes against humanity (§ 7 VStGB), or war crimes (§§ 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12 VStGB). Additionally, a concurrent violation of the War Weapons Control Act was alleged.
As a so-called “Emir,” he commanded a group of 20 fighters and carried out armed checkpoints on roads, controlling civilians. During his religious police duties, he took two men hostage.
Mohamed A. G. was acquitted by the State Security Senate of the Higher Regional Court (OLG) Frankfurt due to lack of evidence in March 2020.
