Trial against Mohamad A. (2018)
The defendant was accused of having traveled to Syria in February 2013 to join the terrorist organization “Ahrar al-Sham” as a member (§§ 129a, 129b StGB). He allegedly participated in the distribution of weapons to members of “Ahrar al-Sham,” who were involved in combat operations (§ 89a StGB). Furthermore, through his involvement in the production of grenade launchers, he violated § 22 of the War Weapons Control Act.
Taking into account a previous prison sentence of two years and four months for a drug offense, Mohamad A. was sentenced to a total prison term of four years for membership in a terrorist organization abroad.
The proceedings were fully documented by our monitors. The anonymized weekly reports of the three trial days will follow.
