Your Creative Journey – XSpaces Scavenger hunt
The XSpaces of Philipps-Universität are innovative, creative and connected workspaces. They promote collaborative work, innovative thinking and the use of new technologies. In this way, they make an important contribution to the future competence of students, teachers, researchers and employees of Marburg University. The XSpaces offer space to try out new things, develop ideas further and design solutions together.
The anniversary "500 years of Generation Marburg" is under the motto "We give people and society sustainable impulses to shape the world of tomorrow in a positive way."
In the anniversary year, the XSpaces invite you to a Scavenger Hunt: In each room, participants can expect a short workshop on a specific topic.
Actively shaping the world of tomorrow
The workshops focus on future skills such as:
- Building empathy and changing perspectives
- Iterative idea generation
- Prototyping
- Visual Storytelling
- Set practice and film making
- Media Competence
In order to enable as many members of the university as possible to participate, the individual appointments are repeated every 6-8 weeks.
Participation is documented in a collection booklet. Those who have completed all workshops receive a "Creative Badge" - a certificate that confirms the acquisition of key future skills and underlines their ability to actively shape the world of tomorrow.

Creative Space – Design Thinking in 1 Hour
Design Thinking is a creative method that supports teams in developing innovative solutions to complex challenges. Design Thinking not only strengthens future skills such as creativity, collaboration and critical thinking, but also promotes the agility and innovative ability of teams.
The workshop is designed as an interactive experience that allows participants to go through the entire Design Thinking process in the shortest possible time. In the process, they learn about the central principles of Design Thinking: human-centered design, a strong focus on active action, building empathy, and a culture of iteration and rapid prototyping.

Game Lab – Record Game Scenes
Studying interactive entertainment media poses the challenge of capturing non-reproducible moments of experience in virtual worlds. In this mini-workshop, learn how to record game content from PC, consoles and VR and link it to camera and microphone recordings. We combine the rental technology of the media center with the possibilities of the free software OBS to build a professional streaming setup. The content of the course can easily be transferred to other scenarios, such as recording video tutorials or screencasts of presentations.
Dates (10:30-12:00): 23.10.2026, 18.12.2026, 12.02.2027, 02.04.2027, 28.05.2027, 23.07.2027 (in German)

Makerspace – Rapid Prototyping mit CAD und 3D Druck
In the workshop, you will get an introduction to the basic steps from a digital design to a finished prototype. You will work with a CAD program to create a model optimized for 3D printing. You will then prepare your component using slicing software, which breaks the model down into individual layers and converts it into machine-readable G-code.
Afterwards, you will get to know the 3D printer in practice and experience how your digital model is created step by step as a physical object.
The workshop will give you a compact, practical introduction to the topic of rapid prototyping and show how ideas can become tangible results within a short time.
