Would you like to learn about and discuss theoretical perspectives and empirical approaches in psychological research, and be able to evaluate their scientific quality, relevance to everyday life, and potential practical applications?

In the Psychology minor, you’ll gain initial insights and deepen your knowledge in several fundamental and applied areas of psychology of your own choosing. You’ll learn how to apply this knowledge in selected interdisciplinary practical fields (e.g., in educational, health-related, organizational, or economic contexts). In addition, you’ll develop foundational communication, collaboration, and self-reflection skills that are valuable for careers involving interaction with people.

Your program begins with an introduction to four of the following foundational areas:

• Perceptual and cognitive psychology
• Learning, emotional, and motivational psychology
• Biological psychology
• Developmental psychology
• Personality psychology
• Social psychology

You can choose to specialize in one of these application areas:

• Work, Organizational, and Business Psychology
• Educational Psychology
• Neuroscience-Based Psychology
• Health Psychology

An integral part of the combined bachelor’s program is MarSkills, where you’ll acquire attractive and future-oriented key competencies.

Prospects

Depending on your chosen area of focus, studying this minor will open up career paths in the health and social services sector (e.g., counseling, prevention, rehabilitation), in business organizations (e.g., marketing, human resources, organizational development), or in educational contexts both within and outside of schools (e.g., developmental and educational counseling).

A minor allows you to broaden your skill set for professional fields, which is largely shaped by your choice of major. Combined with your major, your career-related experience (e.g., internships, part-time jobs, volunteer work), and your personal skills, you can refine your profile and shape your own unique range of career opportunities.

  General higher education entrance qualification, subject-related higher education entrance qualification, technical college entrance qualification or master’s certificate and comparable certificates from advanced professional training or professional qualifications  

  Certifications of program-specific knowledge and skills to be submitted prior to admission: 
  English skills: B2
  German skills: DSH 2 

  Minor:  
  For application or enrolment, it is necessary to select one major and depending on the combination one minor subjects in the online application
