Student Assistant Council

The Student Assistant Council is the elected staff representative body for student assistants and tutors at Philipps University of Marburg.

We represent the interests of student employees in dealings with the university administration, the departments, and the staff council. In addition, we provide advice on questions and problems in the workplace and, upon request, support assistants in discussions, whether in the context of selection procedures, conflicts, or hearings. This includes, for example, addressing problems in everyday working life, fixed-term contracts, compensation, working hours, and labor rights, and developing solutions. All concerns are, of course, treated confidentially.

The Student Assistant Council works together with the staff council, the youth and trainee representatives, the representatives for disabled persons, the student senate members, and the AStA, as well as other university bodies, and seeks contact with student assistant councils and initiatives at other universities and with political actors such as trade unions. Major issues include the expansion of co-determination and the inclusion of auxiliary staff in collective agreements (TVStud).
