‘’Dealing with Material Culture in the Eastern Mediterranean. Between Excavation and Digitization’’ Philipps-University-Marburg December 17 – 20, 2025

We are excited to announce the Ta’ziz Science Cooperations 2023–2025 Closing Conference titled “Dealing with Material Culture in the Eastern Mediterranean: Between Excavation and Digitization.”

The conference will take place at Philipps-Universität Marburg from 17–20 December 2025 and brings together scholars from Egypt, Lebanon, Cyprus, and Germany to discuss new research on archaeology, heritage studies, Islamic manuscripts, digital humanities, and the history of medicine and pharmacy.

Over four days, participants will engage in keynote lectures, thematic panels, and collaborative sessions focusing on excavation practices, manuscript studies, digitization projects, and cultural heritage across the Eastern Mediterranean. The program also includes guided visits, a Christmas Market outing, and a final city tour of Marburg.
