Rirhandu Mageza-Barthel

Rirhandu Mageza-Barthel is a professor for Peace and Development Studies at the University of South Africa (UNISA). She is an internationally active scholar trained in political studies with a regional and transdisciplinary interest in the social sciences. Her research focuses on the international relations of the Global South, particularly on gendered post-conflict transformation, sustainable development frameworks and African-Chinese relations. During her academic journey she has held teaching and research positions at the Universities of Kassel, Giessen, Vienna and Frankfurt am Main. She is currently an Academic Editor of the journal ‘Third World Quarterly’, co-editor of the Routledge Series ‘Gender in a Global/Local World’ and serves on the Editorial Board of the ‘International Feminist Journal of Politics’.
